On the anniversary of the bombing of Gaza by Israel over 50 protesters rallied at the BBC in Manchester at a protest vigil demanding that the ongoing siege of Gaza be lifted.
'Protest like this are essential. The people of Gaza are uplifted when they hear of these protests as they do. I have just returned from Gaza' said Akeel, who helped break the siege on the Viva Palestina! convoy.
'Since last years assault by Israel there have been important gains for the campaign in support of the Palestinians.
- The British TUC has backed the Boycott Sanctions and Divestment Campaign
- The UN Goldcstone Report has found Israel guilty of war crimes
- Israeli leaders fearful of arrest have canceled visits to the UK
- Turkey, Israel's former ally, have broken many diplomatic links
- Support for the Palestinians has grown across the world

The protest drew support from Stop the War as well as Manchester branches of the Palsetine Solidarity Campaign, Jews For Justice for the Palestinians, Manchester Community Health Unison and Target Bimar |
