We would like to invite you to the debate on Saturday 17th of October. The issue is "Should British troops be withdrawn from Afghanistan?"
We are writing to you as a former soldier and a sister who has lost a brother and hope you will join the conversation. Unfortunately it seems the main political parties don't want to talk about this issue and carry on with a war which we personally believe is unwinnable because of the reasons we are there.
Also we feel it is very important not to voice opinions in private as they will never get heard and if we want to change something we must speak out about it. If we don't speak out and change we may see ourselves in another war in Iran which will mean more dead soldiers and civilians on both sides.
We truly believe we need to put the brakes on and change our course. Most of the reasons for us ever having been in Iraq and Afghanistan have now been proven many times to be pure lies. If you feel you have something to say on the issue we would urge you attend the debate and join the conversation.
Thank you for your time,
Adnan Sarwar (Former Royal Engineers Bomb Disposal, served in Iraq twice 2003 and 2006/2007)
Karla Ellis (sister of Lee Ellis, killed in Iraq 2006)
