Guardian/BBC docmentary about US- organised death squads and torture centres in Iraq

E-mail Print PDF

The Guardian and BBC Arabic have produced a documentary about how the US organised death squads to promote a civil war in the aftermath of the invasion of Iraq between Shia and Sunni Iraqis to undermine the resistance to the imperialist occupation.

The accompanying article states that it was sparked by the Wikileaks leak of the Iraq war logs. Many of the comments on the video state that this documentary could not have been made without the leaks by Bradley Manning and he should be regarded as a hero rather than a criminal.

You can watch the full documentary online below or at the Guardian site.

Saturday 27th April protest: Ground the Drones
Stop Britain being a launchpad for killer dronesPhoto of a drone

Assemble: 12 noon at Lincoln station
March to rally at 2pm
at RAF Waddington – the UK's new
Centre of Drone Operations

This spring, the UK will double its number of armed Reaper drones in Afghanistan and will for the first time begin operating drones over Afghanistan from a new facility at RAF Waddington near Lincoln.

Over the past four years, the US has launched hundreds of drone strikes in Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia and Libya, with reliable reports showing thousands of people have been killed, including hundreds of children. In Afghanistan where the US and UK have launched over 1,500 drone strikes, it is simply not known how many people have perished in these strikes. In Gaza too, many Palestinians have been killed by Israeli drone strikes.

Drones have become the latest weapon of choice in the so-called war on terror. Drones make it much easier for politicians to launch military intervention and assassinate suspects anywhere in the world. Drones are making the world a much more dangerous place.

Join us in calling on the government to abandon the use of drones as weapons of war.

Public Meeting: The New scramble for Africa – Mali, Libya, Algeria the real reasons for war

We hope you will enjoy our next event The New scramble for Africa – Mali, Libya, Algeria the real reasons for war.Image of Cameron and bombing of Mali

Speaker: Explo Nani-Kofi is the Director of Kilombo Centre for Civil Society and African Self-Determination in Ghana and the coordinator of Another World Is Possible Radio Programme on GFM in London.

27 February 7pm  - Friends Meeting House, Manchester

At a time when the government is cutting schools, hospitals and welfare, Britain can still afford to play a central role in foreign interventions; and this time the intervention is taking place in Mali.

This intervention hasn’t seen the US at its helm but instead France and many commentators have called this intervention ‘France’s Afghanistan’. Al-Qaeda’s reach has now spread to the Maghreb and a day after the intervention in Mali began, we saw the hostage crisis in Algeria unveil.

Is such an intervention going to help or hinder progress in the region? We have seen many western interventions in the last decade that have been labelled as ‘humanitarian’, which have been far from ‘humanitarian’.

Please forward to your networks and invite friends on Facebook.
