Reality of Obama's killer drones exposed by Code Pink protest

When Obama's Homeland Security advisor John Brennan spoke to the media justifying Obama's policy of illegal assassination using drone aircraft missile attacks, Code Pink activist Medea Benjamin challenged him to say that killing civilians, violating international law and abusing human rights was the reality of these attacks.

The "wiped off the map" phrase is a myth, but it has been transformed into accepted wisdom by its endless repetition by US politics.

President Obama has joined much of Official Washington in mistranslating a comment by Iran’s President Ahmadinejad into the provocative phrase, "wiping Israel off the map." Obama’s falsehood recalls President George W. Bush’s bogus claim about Iraq seeking uranium in Africa, says ex-CIA analyst Elizabeth Murray.

Thank you to everyone who came on Thursday to hear Jeremy Corbyn and Lindsey German explain the threat of plans to launch a military campaign on Iran.

In the same week the death of 6 more British soldiers brought the military toll to 404 in Afghanistan, 90 people including Iranians, trade unionists and CND supporters agreed the need for a highly visible public campaign against another war.

Next meeting: Thursday 15 March 7pm Central Hall, Oldham St. Manchester--Planning meeting for national day of action.

Come along with ideas for protests, banners, a die in, stalls .. Any activities we could organise or publicise for the Stop the war national day of action on Sat 24 March.

We'll have some short clips of film to show and banner/tshirt making stuff as well discussion. We also have new badges and tshirts to buy.

7pm Thursday 8th March, at Central Hall Oldham St. Manchester. M1 1WT (off of Piccadilly Gds.)

Speakers include: Jeremy Corbyn MP, and  Lindsey German from the Stop the War Coalition & Philip Gilligan CND. Trades Unionists and Iranians will also speak, and there will be discussion. Campaign stalls.

Defend the Farooqi Family! Say No to Collective Punishment!

The 'war on terror' has brought with it an attack on civil liberties and a rise in anti Muslim racism. A Manchester family now face eviction and the loss of their family home through new, untested, draconian laws.

The Farooqi family live in a home in Longsight. Their father has been 'convicted' under anti terror legislation.

The sole 'evidence' against him was that he was selling books and CD's, although these were later returned to him after he was convicted. He is appealing against his sentence.

Now the Crown Prosecution Service and the Police want to confiscate and sell the house where his family live. None of the family members have any charges or convictions against them. The house belongs to his wife and her sister. The whole family now face the threat of eviction. This would amount to collective punishment.

Greater Manchester Stop the War Coalition are one of many supporters of the Save the Family Home Campaign.
