"The British and US governments always tried to sell the invasion of Afghanistan as 'the good war'. But behind this hype, there is widespread acceptance that the occupation is a disaster."
"The US has spent £110 billion on their war in Afghanistan so far, according to a report from the US Congress, yet the Afghan people are facing a winter of famine. "The US is planning to turn the situation around by sending a further 20,000 troops to Afghanistan as well as threatening Pakistan. Accelerating the military action will not solve the fundamental problem – that the majority of Afghans want foreign troops to leave. Nor will it solve the humanitarian disaster the Afghan people are facing. "I know Stop the War speaks for the majority of people in this country when we say we want - No More Deaths in Afghanistan! Bring the troops out now!' |
